Dog Owners today, have the benefit of more help, training, books and without doubt more treats, however there are more badly behaved dogs than ever before. While most of us are well-intentioned, loving owners we lack sufficient understanding of our dogs natures and this lack of understanding can create many common problems we see in dogs today. Put simply, Dogs are not humans wearing a fur coat. They do not see the world the same way as humans, act like humans or think like humans. Dogs are dogs and we need to respect them as dogs, by treating them as humans we do them a disservice and create many of the bad behaviours we see in our dogs today, most would not be seen if we had not domesticated them.
My mission is to help owners understand a dogs basic needs by using dog psychology and showing the owner how treating a dog as a dog will give them a happy dog that they can be proud of and take anywhere at anytime without fear of a problem.
Dog Aggression Aggression is the most commonly reported problem, and one that proves most difficult to modify. There are several types of aggression, here is a brief description:- Dominance…….Where the dog perceives a threat to its dominant status from another dog or human Fear/Defensive….A shy insecure dog who bites because he is fearful of the world and situation not understood. Possessive……… The dog guards its food, toys or any other item it regards as its own Territorial……….The dog becomes hostile to it surrounds, eats fences jumps up and down and generally creates hell when someone or thing approaches its perceived territory. Learned……For the smart manipulative dog learned to display behaviour to get what it wants. Noise provoked…… A very little known version, susceptibility to high pitched noise prevalent in certain breeds. All of these types of aggression I can help you and your dog with. If you have a dog that is displaying aggression in any form you should seek the help of a canine behaviour consultant. |
